LFC to host its first ever Soccer School in Finland
The Reds are set to deliver the Club’s first ever Soccer Schools coaching programme in Finland, which will see official LFC coaches hosting three separate three-day sessions from 29 July to 7 August 2014 across the country.
The courses will be held in Vaasa, Kaarina and Lahti and will be for boys and girls aged between six and 14. The programmes will include coaching philosophies and practices taken directly from the Reds' Academy in Liverpool, which has seen nine players make their first team debut over the last two seasons.
With all activity overseen by Club coaches, the programme provides participants with the best possible environment to develop key techniques and tactics and offers an insight into how the Club's young players are developed.
Age-specific sessions are designed to cover important aspects of the game, including 'passing excellence', a 'striker's master class', 'running with the ball to exploit space' and 'creativity and imagination in a one-on-one'. A specialist goalkeeper option is also available.
In addition, players will tackle exclusive Academy skills challenges, compete in a mini-tournament and take home a signed certificate.
Commenting on the announcement, Liverpool FC Ambassador and former player Ian Rush said, "It's fantastic that kids from across Finland will have the chance to experience playing The Liverpool Way, and to get a taste of the actual coaching programmes delivered at the Club's Academy to the current young players.
"Liverpool FC has a large following across the country and in the past a number of kids from Finland have even attended some of the programmes in the UK, which I've been a part of, so it's a great opportunity for even more young followers to have the experience of learning from the LFC coaches in their home country."
To celebrate the first-ever Liverpool FC Soccer Schools programme in Finland, one participant will be selected from each course to attend a LFC International Football Academy Soccer School in Liverpool. Players will be selected on the basis of their attitude whilst on the course and their approach to training, where they will need to demonstrate the attributes required to play The Liverpool Way.
The Liverpool FC Soccer Schools will take place on the following dates:
- Vaasa, 29 - 31 July
- Kaarina, 1 - 3 August
- Lahti, 5 - 7 August
