Liverpool FC's official Indonesian Twitter account, @OfficialLFC_ID, today became the club's first international account on the micro-blogging platform to pass 100,000 followers.

The Reds were the first club in Europe to launch an overseas local-language Twitter account back in 2012 when @ThaiLFC was unveiled to increase engagement with supporters in Thailand.

An official Twitter handle for fans in neighbouring Indonesia, @OfficialLFC_ID, followed in December 2013 and today it passed 100,000 followers - making it the club's most-followed international Twitter account with @LFC_Arabic now second in terms of total followers.

As with Twitter, Indonesia also boasts more LFC followers on Facebook than any other country in the world.

Many of the Reds' rivals - both in the UK and across Europe - have since followed Liverpool's blueprint for communicating with fans overseas and have launched their own local-language Twitter accounts.

However, Liverpool remain the most socially-active and engaged club in the world with 19 official Twitter accounts - seven more than any other club in Europe - nine international Facebook pages and additional official social media offerings in Russia, China and Brazil.

In total, the club now communicates with supporters in 16 different languages every day of the week - more than any other club in the world.
