Liverpool kept a second consecutive clean sheet in seeing off Manchester United on Sunday, and Opta statistics from Old Trafford suggest that defender Martin Skrtel was a vital contributor to that feat.

The Slovakian centre-back was successful in both of the tackles he entered during the 90 minutes and completed seven clearances - a joint-high for the Reds alongside Jon Flanagan.

No teammate was more effective in the air than Skrtel, who won 80 per cent of such duels against the Red Devils. In total, he was victorious in 66.7 per cent of the individual battles he contested.

The No.37 was comfortable in possession too, taking 50 touches throughout the match and concluding the encounter with impressive passing accuracy of 86.8 per cent.
