School children in Runcorn were given a day to remember when Liverpool Ladies' goalkeeping duo Danielle Gibbons and Libby Stout visited Castle View Primary School with the Women's Super League trophy.

Gibbons and Stout visited the school to help promote girls football in the local community as the Liverpool County FA look to increase participation rates in Merseyside.

The Women's Super League Champions pair participated in a question and answer session as well as assisting with coaching drills delivered by Liverpool Ladies and Foundation coach, Vicky Jepson, to the aspiring footballers.

The schoolchildren also received a special surprise as Stout and Gibbons paraded the WSL trophy, much to the delight of the enthusiastic youngsters.

This was the fourth visit that Liverpool Ladies have made in the past month, with new signing Stout remarking: "Having been involved in football since an early age, I feel immense pride in being able to act as a role model and offer advice to children who may wish to follow in my footsteps."

Gibbons added: "To be able to visit a local school and parade the WSL trophy will hopefully act as an incentive and inspiration for any girls who would like to become a footballer."

Liverpool County FA football development officer, Anna Farrell, said: "Together with the support of the Liverpool Ladies we are aiming to increase the number of female only football opportunities in Halton and highlight to the girls, teachers and parents that girls can live their dream of playing professional football.

"The players and coaches are great role models for Liverpool Ladies and female football across Merseyside.

"The programme has massively benefited from their involvement and I would like to thank them for giving up their time to be involved."
