Liverpool FC Foundation coaches will deliver training sessions in Jakarta, Indonesia this week alongside the club's charity partner from the 2013 pre-season tour, Gocekz Project.

Gocekz is a social inclusion project established through the Premier League and British Council's international community development programme, Premier Skills.

It aims to develop a brighter future for young people around the world using the power of football and in Jakarta, the scheme engages with children from some of the most disadvantaged communities.

Gocekz builds upon the groundbreaking Kickz programme in the UK, a partnership scheme between the Premier League and Sport England, which targets youth at risk in some of the most deprived parts of the country.

Since Premier Skills began in 2007, some 2,300 coaches and referees have been trained, who in turn have reached out to a further 500,000 young people. More than 6,000 teachers have received training in the use of Premier Skills English materials, with 3.5 million views of the materials online.

Many of the children the project helps have spent time living on the street and have been exposed to crime and unhealthy lifestyles.

During the visit, the Liverpool FC Foundation coaches will conduct a need-analysis of the Gocekz programme, deliver a football focused workshop for the 28 volunteer Gocekz coaches and visit a Gocekz project in Himmata Children's Centre.

The trip, which is in partnership with the Premier League and the British Council, will also include visits to Jakarta State University and Ministry of Social Affairs.

Last year, the club partnered with the Gocekz project during their pre-season tour in July and delivered a community based training session at Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex.

Since 2012, with support from local partners, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Jakarta State University, Premier Skills Gocekz has changed the lives of hundreds of young people from children's centres and drop-in centres throughout the Jakarta area.

Mark Haig, head of operations at the Liverpool FC Foundation, said: "The Gocekz project is a fantastic programme which has created opportunities for more than 200 young people from the Jakarta area since its inception in 2012.

"We are proud to support Premier Skills and the British Council and it is important for us to continue to support the club's legacy programme and continue to promote our charity partners campaigns."

Sally Goggin, country director of British Council Indonesia, said: "We are absolutely delighted and very excited to be working with Liverpool FC Foundation on the Premier Skills Gocekz programme.

"Liverpool FC has one of the most active Foundation's involved in community engagement initiatives. Their experience of working in their community in the UK to encourage football for all and to help promote healthy lifestyles is something that has resonance here but it is their international experience of widening participation in sports that we most value.

"Supporting the development of the Gocekz community coaches is incredibly important for the continued benefits that this project can bring to the communities in Jakarta."
