Jordan Henderson travels into training at Melwood every single day with two overriding objectives – to become a better player on behalf of Liverpool and maintain his place in the starting XI.

The 23-year-old has been a star performer throughout the Reds' season, featuring in every single Barclays Premier League fixture and seemingly growing in stature with each appearance.

In an in-depth interview with #LFCWORLD, LFC TV's weekly magazine programme, the midfielder explains how his progressive and consistent campaign has been founded on work during the week.

Quizzed on whether fans would consider the No.14 as the club's most improved player, Henderson said: "Obviously it's a compliment but it's what my aim is every time I play - and that is to improve.

"That's all I'm trying to do and I'm training every day and coming to work to try and improve and become a better player, so I'd have to take that as a compliment if that was the case.

"With the staff and the players around us I can definitely become a better player here, so I've just got to keep working hard and hopefully carry on improving."

In conversation on the show, the England international also discusses the confidence boost that he has enjoyed through regular praise from manager Brendan Rodgers for his contribution.

He added: "It is important - it gives you more confidence if you know everybody else is confident when you go on the pitch.

"We all have belief in each other as a team and our teammates and you can see that when we play every week. I think you can see everyone is together, we believe in each other and we give each other confidence.

"It's one thing I've always been taught really, when I was young, is to always give your best no matter what.

"I know sometimes you might not play as well as you want to every week but the minimum you can do is to give 100 per cent and work hard for the team, so that's what I try to do."

Henderson's displays have been equally well received on the Kop, with supporters acknowledging the development of a player who has grown in stature since joining the club two-and-a-half years ago.

"To be honest, the supporters have always been very supportive, even when I first came here and they've always been supportive towards me," he reflected.

"Of course, you are going to get criticism and that's part of being a footballer, but the majority have always been supportive - especially towards me and the team."
