Liverpool's Academy players and staff followed in the footsteps of the Reds' first team by making a special Christmas visit to Alder Hey Children's Hospital on Thursday.

With Ryan McLaughlin and Daniel Trickett-Smith dressed up as Santa Claus and mascot Mighty Red in attendance too, the group brought a sprinkling of festive cheer to the child patients.

To ensure that the club's U18 and U21 youngsters could meet with as many children as possible, the starlets were split into groups to travel around the wards with selection boxes for the kids.

The poignant journey is one the boys from the Kirkby complex know well, as representatives from the Academy visit the hospital based in West Derby each and every month.

Their trip yesterday instantly followed that of the Reds' senior players, after Steven Gerrard, Brendan Rodgers, Luis Suarez and co toured Alder Hey on Wednesday afternoon.
