Academy quartet visit Alder Hey
As part of their ongoing activities within the local community, four of Liverpool's aspiring Academy youngsters visited Alder Hey Children's Hospital on Thursday – and with a special cheque in tow.
Players from the club's Kirkby complex make regular trips to not only the hospital, but also visit patients at Claire House hospice and serve food at a homeless shelter in the city.
As a modern replacement for cleaning the boots of the Reds' first team, these activities ensure Academy talents are developed into outstanding players and, equally importantly, good human beings.
Yesterday, it was the turn of Jack Alexander, Sergi Canos, Daniel Trickett-Smith and Harry Wilson to make the journey to Alder Hey and bring a smile to the faces of the children currently on the wards.
For Canos and Wilson, it was their first experience of Alder Hey - a hospital based in West Derby with which Liverpool FC enjoys a long-standing supportive relationship.
The players also had an important task to carry out; the quartet presented the Alder Hey fundraising team with a cheque for £500 from money raised by the Stephen Packer Memorial Cup.
