U18s boss Neil Critchley has challenged his in-form youngsters to maintain their encouraging recent record after extending their unbeaten streak to six matches last weekend.

Sheyi Ojo and Jerome Sinclair were on the scoresheet in the North East to help Critchley's charges claim an impressive 3-1 victory over Sunderland on their travels.

Naturally, it was a pleasing result for the manager, who believes his team had to show two sides to their game throughout the 90 minutes.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "We played some really good attacking football in the first half and created plenty of chances.

"We weren't as good in the second half but we had to show a different side to our game.

"We were a bit more defensive but we did that well and limited them to few chances, which was very pleasing. We're on a good run of form and we want to keep that going."

Next up, the U18s will navigate two matches in three days, hosting Wolves before making the short journey to Everton - with the latter match live on LFC TV on Tuesday, November 26.

"It's a busy time but we'll continue to rotate the squad to ensure we can cope and everyone will get plenty of minutes," Critchley added.

"We left Harry Wilson and Daniel Trickett-Smith out last weekend and they will come back into contention to face Wolves."
