Moses and Toure reach World Cup
Victor Moses and Kolo Toure had cause for celebration on Saturday as their respective countries secured qualification for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
Reds defender Toure played the full 90 minutes as Ivory Coast earned a 1-1 draw against Senegal and therefore a 4-2 aggregate victory over two legs.
Earlier in the day, Moses converted a first-half penalty as Nigeria booked their place at the tournament with a 2-0 win against Ethiopia.
The Super Eagles led the two-legged tie 2-1 following the first encounter last month and the on-loan Liverpool forward instantly extended the advantage in Calabar.
When the hosts were awarded a spot-kick midway through the opening period, it was Moses who stepped up to strike from 12 yards.
The 22-year-old was substituted on 79 minutes, shortly before Victor Obinna added a second for Nigeria and sealed a 4-1 aggregate triumph.
Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen, meanwhile, played 90 minutes for Wales in their 1-1 friendly draw against Finland at the Cardiff City Stadium.
