It was a frustrating morning for Liverpool U18s as they lost 4-2 to Fulham at the Kirkby Academy on Wednesday.

Neil Critchley's young side were up against last season's Barclays U18 Premier League Elite Group title winners, and Fulham showed just why they will be there or there abouts this season.

Scotland youth international Ryan Fulton, now predominantly an U21 squad member, was given an outing in goal after his return from a hand injury as he came in for the injured Ryan Crump.

The away side edged in front before Daniel Trickett-Smith equalised from the penalty spot.

Fulham regained the lead five minutes before half-time before two quick fire goals in as many minutes in the second period saw them claim all three points.

Trickett-Smith fired a brilliant goal towards the end of the contest but it was to be a mere consolation.

The U18s are next in action on Saturday, October 19 when they play host to Blackburn Rovers at 11am BST.
