Natasha Dowie fired a brilliant hat-trick as Liverpool Ladies strengthened their Super League title charge with a 4-2 win over Everton at the Halton Stadium on Thursday night.
It was a massive victory for Matt Beard's side who showed great fighting spirit to come back from a goal down and take the three points, and they are now one game away from winning the title.
Dowie was playing against her former club and after being recalled to the England squad this week she was in unstoppable form. The No.9 has fired an astonishing 19 goals in just 20 games this season.
The game got off to an explosive start with two goals in the opening five minutes.
Nikita Paris fired the Blues into a third minute lead but two minutes later former Blue Dowie made it 1-1.
On the half hour mark Dowie struck again when she finished off a brilliant team move to make it 2-1.
On the stroke of half-time the Blues stunned the Reds again when Paris found the net with a superb lobbed effort from 30-yards out.
Liverpool regained their composure in the second half and captain Gemma Bonner headed home to make it 3-2 on 63 minutes.
Inspirational centre-back Bonner has netted some priceless goals for her side recently and a vital goal in the derby is surely the best of the lot.
Liverpool then made sure of the points five minutes from time when Dowie headed home her hat-trick from yet another Nicole Rolser assist to make it 4-2.
Bristol Academy, who Liverpool face on the final day of the season in a potential decider for the title, gained a vital 1-0 win over Birmingham tonight. Bristol now go second, one point ahead of reigning champions Arsenal.
Liverpool are currently five points clear at the top but Bristol could cut that lead to two points with a win at Doncaster Belles on Sunday.
