Liverpool supporters have handed the club's first Goal of the Month award for 2013-14, in association with EA SPORTS, to striker Daniel Sturridge for his effort at Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old notched four times during August, scoring winners against Stoke City and Villa in the Barclays Premier League before contributing two more in the Capital One Cup.

But Sturridge's dance through the Villa defence and calm finish following a clever step over by Philippe Coutinho collected a massive 49 per cent of fans' votes in our online poll.

With more than 11,000 votes cast during the past week, Jordan Henderson's conversion against Notts County was second with 19 per cent and Sturridge also claimed third spot with his opening day drive past Stoke.

Fabio Borini's blistering free-kick for Liverpool's U21s at Manchester United received four per cent of the vote, while Luis Alberto's volley against Valerenga completed the top five.
