Gill: What Shankly appreciated most
Bill Shankly's granddaughter, Karen Gill, was a special guest on this week's Thursday Night Live as she joined Ian St John and John Aldridge on a show dedicated to the great man.
Karen reminisced about her granddad in the hour-long programme, sharing some of her favourite memories, while Aldo and the Saint chipped in with theirs.
"I know that, more than anything else, what he appreciated was the supporters love," explained Karen.
"I think it carried him through after he retired and made everything alright. He always received so much love and respect wherever he went.
"For me, that's his greatest achievement - and I think the fact that we're all sat here today 30 years since he died and people are still talking about him with such much love and respect is a great thing.
"He was the same as the supporters. That devotion and that passion was like a mirror image between him and the fans. He empathised with them."
