History will be made on Tuesday as Liverpool face Notts County in the Capital One Cup for the very first time – but club statistician Ged Rea's pre-match facts and figures show there is plenty of previous between the two teams.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions since losing at Southampton back in March - their only loss in 15 matches.

Liverpool have won the League Cup more than any other club (eight times), three more than Aston Villa.

Liverpool will be facing Notts County for the first time ever in the League Cup.

The last time they played each other was in a league fixture in March 1992, with the Reds winning 4-0 at Anfield. Michael Thomas, Steve McManaman, Ian Rush and Barry Venison scored the goals while current first-team coach Mike Marsh was also in the line-up.

Liverpool have won the last five meetings at Anfield, scoring 19 and conceding just one, while they have won 12 and drawn one of the last 13 clashes on Merseyside.

Three hat-tricks have been scored by Liverpool players against Notts County - Joe Hewitt (1907), Ian Rush (1982 and 1983) with the first and last of that trio coming at Anfield.

Liverpool have scored in 46 of their last 47 League Cup games - only failing to hit the net during that time at Chelsea in December 2007.

Liverpool have lost only 10 times at Anfield in the League Cup in 102 games as the home team.

Steven Gerrard could become, with his next goal, only the ninth Liverpool player to reach double figures in the League Cup - Ian Rush (48), Robbie Fowler (29), Kenny Dalglish (27), Ronnie Whelan (14), Steve McMahon (13), Danny Murphy (11), Steve McManaman and David Fairclough (10 each) being the others.

Jordon Ibe has played against Notts County before. He came off the bench for Wycombe at Meadow Lane in November 2011.

Brad Jones made his first appearance in either of England's major cup competitions in an FA Cup tie against County. He kept a clean sheet for Middlesbrough in a win in January 2004.

Simon Mignolet was in goal for Sunderland when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by County in 2011.

Martin Kelly's only Liverpool goal so far came in the League Cup at Chelsea, in November 2011.

County, founder members of the Football League in 1888, have never won the League Cup. Their best seasons saw them reach the quarter-finals in 1964, 1973 and 1976.

The last time the Magpies beat Liverpool was back in 1956 - winning a Second Division game 2-1. Since then they have not won in 12 meetings.

Their last success at Anfield came in October 1902. Since then they have drawn four and lost 19 of 23 visits.

The only County player to score a hat-trick against the Reds was Jack Peart in a 3-0 home win in March 1913.

Chris Kiwomya has been in charge since February 2013 - their 24th managerial appointment in the last 20 years and their 16th in this millennium.

Kiwomya played three times as a player at Anfield - all for Ipswich - and scored a last-minute equaliser against Liverpool at Portman Road in August 1992.

County have not kept a clean sheet in five games this season and have recorded one shut-out in their last 11 matches.
