Liverpool Football Club once again showed its support for UK Pride celebrations on Saturday by taking part in a special march through the city.

As part of the club's ongoing commitment to equality and diversity, members of staff, Liverpool FC Foundation and Youth Ambassadors took part in the celebrations.

Last year, Liverpool became the first Premier League club to support a UK Pride march, and the success of this year's event was clear for all to see.

Celebrating all things LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), the theme of this year's campaign was 'superheroes' and tens of thousands of people attended the event, which finished with a concert on the city's iconic waterfront.

Artists such as X-Factor star Amelia Lily and Black Lace headlined a host of aspiring artists and performers throughout the afternoon.

Youngsters who are part of Liverpool FC Foundation's Youth Ambassadors scheme - a partnership with Liverpool City Council - supported the wider event following the march, helping Liverpool Pride promote its work and projects.

Speaking prior to the day, LGBT representative from the Liverpool FC supporter's committee, Paul Amann, said: "Following on from last year's inaugural participation, where the club was welcomed with great enthusiasm by LFC fans at Liverpool Pride, I know that this year's march will be bigger and better.

"I can't wait to walk along with the club banner at Liverpool Pride 2013."

Rishi Jain, Liverpool's social inclusion officer, said: "To build on the success of becoming the first Premier League club to be involved in a UK Pride march last year is important for Liverpool Football Club.

"It's been a fantastic day for us to take part in and a great celebration of the diversity of the city.

"For many years we have taken positive steps to promote our stance against homophobia and discrimination both on and off the pitch, and we continue with our commitment to ensuring that principles of inclusion are embedded into all areas of the club."
