Ryan Kent fired two goals to help Liverpool U17s win the premier Milk Cup Globe on Friday afternoon – and insisted he's more than happy to operate anywhere across the forward line for the Reds, as long as he can keep finding the net.

Kent has been one of the most exciting talents on show at this year's tournament, forming a skilful three-pronged Liverpool attack alongside Harry Wilson and Sergi Canos.

Not only have the trio demonstrated bags of flair, pace and between them a keen eye for goal, they've also interchanged and rotated positions to devastating effect over the last five days.

"There's a lot of ability in the team," Kent told Liverpoolfc.com after the Reds' win in Coleraine. "I really don't mind where I play - as long as I'm on the field.

"Mick [Garrity] told me to play as a false No.9 against Newcastle, which is like an old No.10 position for the club. And that's where I used to play a couple of years ago. That way it's easier to drop deep, pick the ball up and make things happen from there."

Kent fired the young Reds ahead after just 10 minutes of play at the Showgrounds on Friday - and he capped a superb performance from Garrity's side by turning home a Canos cross seconds before the final whistle.

"For the first goal, I picked the ball up, ran forward, played a one-two with Pedro [Chirivella] and then slotted it in the far corner. Then with the second, I saw Sergi look up and so I ran to the back post and tapped it home.

"I've got four goals in pre-season so far and I'm enjoying banging them in. It's always good to get goals under your belt in pre-season. I want to score more goals next campaign, and I guess my other aims are for us to finish top of the league and to have a good run in the FA Youth Cup.

"It was a little disappointing not to get to the final of the Milk Cup here, but it's always a bonus to get to the Globe final. And the way the boys performed over the whole tournament, I thought we did really well."
