There was disappointment for Liverpool U15s as they lost 2-1 to County Antrim in the semi-finals of the junior Milk Cup on Thursday night.

Michael Beale's side were undone early on by their powerful opponents, who took the lead after 10 minutes. Cormac Lawler's strike was saved well by Reds stopper Owen Wheeler; however, Brendy Glackin tapped home the rebound for 1-0.

To make matters worse for the young Liverpool side, their captain, Liam Griffin, was forced to withdraw from the game with an injury midway through the first half.

The Reds looked a much stronger proposition after the interval, but Antrim doubled their advantage with 15 minutes remaining, when Mark McKee smashed a Kyle McClean cross into the roof of Wheeler's net.

Beale's team fought hard to get back into the game, and in the second minute of stoppage time, Connor Masterson met Liam Robinson's corner and netted with a powerful header to grab a consolation goal.
