Connor Masterson struck with what was practically the last kick of the game to rescue a 1-1 draw for Liverpool U15s in their Milk Cup clash against Cavan & Monaghan DL on Tuesday afternoon.

The youngster provoked raucous celebrations on the sidelines when he curled home the equaliser in the 61st - and final - minute of the junior section tie at the Riada Stadium in Ballymoney.

Masterson is, by definition, a centre-back, but he can operate further forward in the midfield - and his attacking instinct was there for all to see when he cut in from the right flank and shot low into the far corner with his left boot.

Michael Beale's side had got their tournament underway with a 2-0 win over County Tyrone on Monday; however, they found themselves behind five minutes into the second half in Tuesday's clash.

Eoghan Cooney was calm and collected as he rounded Reds stopper Shamal George and tapped home into an empty net to open the scoring.

But right at the death, Masterson, who grew up in the same area as many of the opposition players, took matters into his own hands and ensured the Reds remain unbeaten in the tournament.

They will now face Southampton on Wednesday.
