Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor paid a special visit to the Anfield Sports and Community Centre to join participants in a game of Walking Football.

Walking Football and Walking Netball are run by the club’s Red Neighbours community team and the free sessions, which are aimed at people over the age of 50, encourage physical activity in a fun and social setting.

The sessions, which are at the Anfield Sports and Community Centre, are held every Friday between 11am and 1pm.

The club’s Red Neighbours programme supports local residents and schools in the Anfield community, focusing on four key areas: food poverty and education; support for the elderly community; encouraging a physically active community; and creating memorable experiences for young people.

Walking Football supports two of our areas of focus including support for the elderly community and encouraging a physically active community.
