The Liverpool FC Foundation will host its second LFC Foundation Day at Anfield when the Reds take on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday February 11.

Following on from the success of last year’s Foundation Day, the 2017 event will celebrate the launch of the club's official charity's new strategy, which focuses on creating life-changing opportunities for children and young people in Merseyside and beyond.

Foundation Day will see a number of fundraising initiatives and activities taking place around Anfield on Saturday, showcasing a wide range of the Foundation’s programmes, such as 'Respect 4 All'.

Before kick-off at 5.30pm GMT, LFC Foundation community coaches will also be hosting free footpool challenges and a blind penalty shootout in the Family Park on Anfield Road.

The Reds' players will proudly wear LFC Foundation t-shirts during their warm-up to raise awareness of the charity, while at half-time three participants from the 'Respect 4 All' programme will have the opportunity to score in front of the Kop in a penalty challenge against a goalkeeper from another of the charity’s flagship programmes, 'Premier League Kicks'.

All money raised will support the LFC Foundation’s programmes and partnerships, which help to improve the health and life chances of children and young people.

Foundation Day 2017: How the charity improves the lives of young people

Ahead of the event, Jürgen Klopp has pledged his support to the charity by becoming an official LFC Foundation Ambassador.

The Liverpool manager will help champion the Foundation’s work with children and young people in Merseyside and beyond.

Jürgen will visit the charity’s various programmes to meet and inspire the young people they work with, as well as getting involved in their fun and unique fundraising activities.

Klopp said: “I am really pleased to be an ambassador for the LFC Foundation and help to raise awareness of the fantastic work that they do in the community.

“It’s important to come together and care for each other, that’s how the world should be. Young people are our future and they need support and chances so we should do everything we can do.”

Andrea Cooper, head of the LFC Foundation, added: “We are delighted to have Jürgen as a LFC Foundation Ambassador. His backing is a massive coup for us and we are looking forward to working with him.

“This is an exciting time for the LFC Foundation as we look to focus on our new strategy of improving the health and wellbeing of children through sports participation and physical activity, as well as raise the aspirations and skills of young people for a better life, through learning and training programmes.

“Our new focus is a result of feedback from our fans who told us that they were passionate about creating more opportunities for children and young people.”

To celebrate the return of LFC Foundation Day, fans can be in with a chance of winning a once in a life time opportunity to step into Klopp’s shoes and spend a day in the life of the Reds' boss.
