Jamie Carragher is to put his boots back on again as the Liverpool legend’s 23 Foundation will stage a special football match in his home town of Bootle to raise funds for charity.

The game between our former centre-back's 23 Foundation and a special select XI will take place at Bootle FC’s Delta Taxis Stadium on Sunday October 9 at 2pm.

Gates will open at 12 noon and admission is just £5 for adults and £2.50 for U16s.

The special friendly clash has been organised to raise money for The Community Food Pantry and other great local causes.

Carragher said: “I want to help as many children as possible to have a better life.

“If they are suffering from illness we will try to help, or if they need help in sport, we will also aid them.

“The 23 Foundation promotes the idea of 'we' and 'us' because together as a community and with help from people like yourselves, we can accomplish anything.”

After the game there is also an after-show party and tickets, priced at £15, are available now.
