Liverpool FC Foundation College is delighted that 18 students have been offered their first-choice universities starting in September 2016.

The current cohort of Year 2 Level 3 students have all been offered places at top-class institutions such as University of Chester, Liverpool Hope, Liverpool John Moores and University of South Wales.

These students follow in the footsteps of LFC Foundation College graduates from previous years who are already making great strides in UK and USA educational institutions.

Head of education and sport at the college, Carl Giles, said: "To have over 30 students from this college now attending university makes us very proud.

"Many of them come with the ambition of progressing in football and, while we have much success in that area, not all students are fortunate enough to become a professional footballer. Going to university or into further education is a fantastic opportunity for them and they should be extremely proud of it.

"LFC Foundation College graduates are now studying at some of the finest institutions such as Loughborough University, Liverpool John Moores University and Durham University to become PE teachers and sport scientists.

"Such careers will give them the opportunity to gain full-time employment in the UK or anywhere around the world."

Former LFC Foundation College student Emily Henshaw now studies at Western Nebraska College in the USA. She said: "I'm absolutely loving life in the USA, I have friends from all over the world, I am studying my major in coaching."

Former student Joe Brooks, a second-year teacher training student at Liverpool Hope University, added: "The LFC Foundation College was a great experience. The staff at the college helped and supported me to progress into further education. I am now really looking forward to graduating and using my skills to secure a full-time position as a PE teacher in a local school."

The college is hosting free open coaching sessions for Year 11 school leavers and current Year 12 students. Dates are as follows:

Boys: Monday July 4, 4-6pm at Wyncote Sport Ground, Mather Avenue, L18 6HF.
