Everton FC paid a touching tribute to the Hillsborough families for their resilience during the past 27 years, following the conclusion of the inquests in Warrington on Tuesday.

The club has stood shoulder to shoulder with Liverpool FC since 96 supporters tragically lost their lives as a result of the events at the disaster on April 15, 1989.

Shortly after the jury’s determinations were returned, a statement on the Everton website read: “Everton Football Club salutes the Hillsborough families and their total vindication as Fighters for Justice.

“Theirs is the greatest victory in the history of football.

“RIP, the 96. Good night, God bless.

“From us across the Park.”
