Liverpool FC U14/U15s travelled to Poland this week to take part in the Premier League and Bundesliga Academy 2016 tour.

The young Reds travelled to Krakow to take on opposition from Hertha Berlin, Wisla Krakow and MSK Zilina, with the trip also being heavily focused on education for the players.

Following on from a visit to the Academy by the Holocaust Educational Trust and survivor Renee Salt, the players visited the factory of German industrialist Oskar Schindler, before laying flowers, lighting candles and pausing to reflect at the Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camp.

During the tournament, which was held at Wisla Krakow’s training ground, players from all four teams also mixed their squads to demonstrate unity amongst the youngsters.

On the trip to Poland, Liverpool’s head of education and welfare Phil Roscoe said: "The visit has been a fantastic trip for the boys and really educational. It is important that the players learn about the Holocaust and the wider historical context of World War Two as it is a key period in history.

"I would like to thank the Premier League, and Martyn Heather in particular, for enabling Liverpool Football Club to be a part of this trip. Their invaluable support allows us to educate the players on important topics such as this."
