"Sailor Hunter" was an inside-forward who played 45 matches for the club as the 19th Century turned into the 20th.
He scored five times from 20 First Division appearances in 1899-1900 and added a further three goals from the eight games he played in the following year. His final selection for the first-team came towards the end of March 1902.
Sailor played two years at Hearts, scoring 14 goals in 42 games and following a brief spell at Woolwich Arsenal he moved to Portsmouth in 1905 where he scored 11 goals in 37 Southern league matches. His most prolific spell came at Dundee where he scored no less than 46 goals in 61 games from 1907-1910.
