Pre Read the full Kenny Dalglish interview on the homepage of Liverpoolfc.com now
Pre On the support of the fans, he added: "Obviously it's thanks very much for the support I've seen and I appreciate everything they've done for me, but the most important people for them to show their support to is Brendan and the team. They've got to support Brendan and the team because, at the end of the day, that's who we all come to watch. The greater the support we can give them, the more successful we'll be."
Pre Dalglish: "I was very proud and privileged to have been asked to come back. John Henry and the members of the board invited me to become a non-executive director. It was a very proud moment and I'm delighted to be back. I feel a bit embarrassed because I've got one of the best seats in the house now to watch matches. I'll get that privilege for any game that I'm coming to. It's an honour to be back here and I'm very lucky to be back."
Pre Kenny Dalglish has been speaking exclusively to LFC TV about his return to the club
Pre And the Palace subs: Price, Inniss, Campana, Guedioura, Bolasie, Gayle, Phillips
Pre The Crystal Palace team news has arrived. Here's how their starting XI will look: Speroni, Ward, Mariappa, Delaney, Moxey, Jedinak, O'Keefe, Puncheon, Kebe, Jerome, Chamakh
Pre Subs: Jones, Ibe, Wisdom, Agger, Aspas, Ilori, Alberto.
Pre The Reds' XI in full is: Mignolet, Sakho, Toure, Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson, Gerrard, Sterling, Moses, Sturridge, Suarez.
Pre TEAM NEWS: Brendan Rodgers makes one change to his Liverpool line-up, with Raheem Sterling replacing the suspended Lucas Leiva.
Pre "I was focused in pre-season and I tried to do my best and show the manager that I was ready to play. I'm starting now and hopefully I can stay in the team for as long as possible."
Pre "Of course I'm happy at the moment, because every single player wants to play. Last season I didn't start a game during almost the entire second half of the season and so it wasn't a good period for me.
Pre "We have 25 players here and every one could start. I will try to do my best and we'll see if I can stay in the team.
Pre Skrtel said: "My aim is to stay in the side and start games. I think that's not only the ambition for me but the aim for every player.
Pre Martin Skrtel is one man who will be keen to feature at Anfield today - and he revealed that his only focus at the moment is to hold down his place at the heart of Liverpool's defence.
Pre "I feel that as a consequence of continuous work and continuous improvement, that will allow us to become better. Hopefully that proves to be the case."
Pre "I believe it will be likewise this season. We bedded in a lot of our work, the development of our playing style, over the summer - it allowed us to make a good start.
Pre "I said similar last year, that I felt that the first months of the season would be about bedding in the principles of the game and as you continually repeat those and find different exercises to improve them, the natural consequence is that you become better.
Pre "It's just the natural consequence of the work," Rodgers explained to Liverpoolfc.com.
Pre Despite having secured a much faster start this time around - the Reds are currently second in the standings - the manager expects that trajectory to be repeated in 2013-14.
Pre After failing to win any of their first five Barclays Premier League fixtures under Rodgers, the Northern Irishman's team later concluded their year with an eight-match unbeaten record.
Pre Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has outlined his belief that Liverpool follow a similar improvement arc this season to the one they achieved during the 2012-13 campaign.
Pre Dalglish said: "It is an honour and privilege to be asked to return to Liverpool as a director of the club. I have always said if there is anything I could do to help this club I would make myself available - when the call came I had no hesitation."
Pre The new role will allow the ownership and senior management to benefit not just from the Anfield legend's decades of experience, but also his close affinity with supporters.
Pre Following discussions with the club's owners, managing director Ian Ayre and manager Brendan Rodgers, Kenny will take up his position as non-executive board director with immediate effect.
Pre Kenny Dalglish will be in attendance at today's game after it was announced last night that the Reds legend will return to the club to join the board of directors.
Pre At 3pm you can listen to our commentary team on LFC TV - Kop hero David Fairclough and Steve Hunter. And at full-time, we want you to have your say on the game as our panel reflects on the contest.
Pre For the best build-up to the game tune into LFC TV from 2pm. Claire Rourke is live at Anfield alongside Ian St John while Mark Benstead and Mark Volante will be pitchside bringing you exclusive pre-match interviews.
