Anfield

Minute by minute

Post We'll be back next Saturday with live updates from the Goldsands Stadium when the Reds return to FA Cup action with a fourth-round tie against Bournemouth. Thanks for following, YNWA
Post That's it from our live coverage from Anfield after a pulsating game in which Liverpool came from two goals down to salvage a point against Aston Villa
Post Rodgers: "I don't think we were quite at our best today, across the team. Normally we're a team that, when we have our tails up, we're one of the best about. Our goals and the energy we have in the team show that. We were just missing that spark today. Training has been a bit broken in the last week, with players not able to train and being injured. But you've got to give Aston Villa credit, they played well. Without playing well, and being 2-0 down, we showed immense character and spirit and resilience to get a point, and we're disappointed not to win it in the end."
Post Brendan Rodgers: "It was a good point. I don't think we were anywhere near our level in the first half and I think you have to give credit to Aston Villa for that because they started very, very well. We weren't great, but it was going to very important we got something from the game. We've shown yet again great character to come back."
Post Steven Gerrard: "They deserved a point. We were nowhere near good enough in the first half. We showed good character to get back into it. Looking back it was probably a fair result. It is no time to panic and we will carry on fighting for fourth. They are all big tests now."
Post Daniel Sturridge's goal means he has scored 13 times in just 16 appearances this season
Post The visitors made 336 passes, finding their intended target 66.1 per cent of the time
Post The Reds had 55.7 per cent of the possession and made 451 passes, with an accuracy rating of 82.3 per cent
Post Villa had 12 efforts at Simon Mignolet's goal, with three on target
Post Liverpool had 14 shots at goal today, six of which were on target
Post That draw keeps Liverpool in fourth place in the table, two points ahead of Everton having played a game more

Pre TEAM NEWS: SAS are reunited as Daniel Sturridge replaces Lucas Leiva for Liverpool’s clash with Aston Villa.
Pre You will find out exactly who lines up against Villa on all official LFC channels before anywhere else – that news will be confirmed at around 4.30pm GMT.
Pre The boss could also report positive news on the fitness of Joe Allen and Mamadou Sakho at his pre-match press conference. “We’re looking better,” he reflected.
Pre Having returned from injury with a goal and an assist as a substitute against Stoke City last weekend, Daniel Sturridge has been declared available to start by Rodgers.
Pre He said: “If Lambert chooses to stick to his usual tactics then we'll play three at the back plus two wing-backs in Lowton and Luna. I think we'll play three central midfielders and two up top with Agbonlahor supporting Benteke. Our tactics have always been more effective away from home as it's a quick, counter-attacking line-up.”
Pre We asked Aston Villa supporter James Laishley for the view from the opposition ahead of today’s clash and he provided the lowdown on how his team will set up.
Pre The statistics suggest that goals are highly likely on Merseyside today; the last 16 Liverpool league games have produced an average of more than four goals per match.
Pre If the Uruguayan finds the net against Paul Lambert's side, he will achieve the landmark of scoring in a ninth successive home league game – the first man ever to do so for the club.
Pre Luis Suarez, who has already notched 22 goals in just 16 Premier League appearances so far in 2013-14, could today break a Liverpool record currently held by Roger Hunt and Fernando Torres.

Pre He added: "The support, where they travel and how far they come to give us that support makes me really proud. Whether we're at home or away, that vocal support is really unique."
Pre Playing in front of their own crowd will once again be an advantage for the Reds, though, and Rodgers was keen to stress his appreciation for the role of the fans.
Pre Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com about today’s fixture earlier this week, the manager explained: "It'll be a difficult game. Aston Villa are a team that have been better away from home because of that counter-attack ability. We know it'll be tough for us."
Pre Brendan Rodgers’ team are looking for a third straight win in the league and an eighth successive win on home soil in the Premier League, plus revenge for a 3-1 defeat in this fixture last season.
